Day 01

Arrival in Uganda

  • ​Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport in Uganda, your driver/guide will greet you in the Arrivals Hall holding a placard with your name. You will then be transferred to your chosen hotel or guesthouse for check-in, dinner, and overnight stay. Your driver/guide will brief you on the safari either before dinner or first thing the next morning after breakfast.

DAY 03

Game Drive & Boat Safari to Bottom of Murchison Falls

After breakfast, head out for a morning game drive in Murchison Falls National Park to search for lions, leopards, buffalo, elephants, Rothschild’s giraffes, oribi, Jackson’s hartebeest, bushbuck, antelopes, and abundant birdlife across the savannah, woodland, and riverine areas.

Return to the lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, embark on a 3-hour boat trip along the Nile River toward the base of Murchison Falls, spotting hippos, crocodiles, and prolific birdlife along the banks.

Disembark and trek to the top of the falls (wear sturdy sports shoes), experience the misty spray and thunderous cascade where the Nile plunges 40 meters through a narrow gorge.

Your guide will transfer you back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 05

Chimpanzee Trek & transfer to Queen Elizabeth N.P

After breakfast, join a guided primate walk in Kibale Forest National Park to search for chimpanzees, red-tailed monkeys, black-and-white colobus, and other primates. Once the chimpanzees are located, spend 1 full hour observing them feeding, grooming, and playing (on ground or in trees). Return to park HQ to receive your chimpanzee tracking conservation certificate. Drive 2 hours to Queen Elizabeth National Park, arrive for lodge check-in and lunch. In the late afternoon, drive to Katwe Crater Lake to tour the traditional salt mines, observe the salt pans and worker huts, interact with local miners, and learn about the harvesting process. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 07

Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate – Transfer to Arusha

  • This drive to Bwindi passes through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park and serves as a game drive. Search for tree-climbing lions (about 4 prides, over 40 lions total, many males with black manes) perched in sycamore fig or acacia trees. Look out for large herds of elephants (over 1,000 in the area), Topi antelopes, and Uganda Kob in large numbers. Take photos throughout the drive. Continue through scenic landscapes of banana plantations, lush valleys, and dense forests to reach your chosen lodge in Bwindi. Arrive in the late afternoon, check in, relax, and prepare for tomorrow’s gorilla trek.

DAY 09

Drive to Lake Mburo National Park

  • After breakfast at leisure, depart Lake Bunyonyi at 9:00 am and drive to Lake Mburo National Park.

  • Arrive, check in at Eagles Nest Mburo Camp, and enjoy a hot lunch.

  • After lunch, embark on a boat trip on Lake Mburo to spot marine birds (Malachite Kingfishers, Pied Kingfishers, African Fish Eagles, Rufous Long-tailed Starlings, Blue-headed Weavers, Green-necked Doves, Hammerkops, Pelicans, Herons, Cormorants, and more), plus hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, antelopes, zebras drinking at the banks, and three species of otters in the lake.

  • Follow with a game drive through the park to explore the scenery and wildlife (including Eland, Impala, Burchell’s Zebras, and other animals).

  • Return to the camp for dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 02

Drive from Entebbe to Murchison Falls N.P via Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary

After breakfast, drive 6 hours to Murchison Falls National Park, stopping en route at Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a guided nature walk with an armed ranger to observe and photograph endangered white rhinos up close.

Continue to Murchison Falls National Park and visit the top of Murchison Falls, where the Nile River plunges through a narrow gorge.

Check in at your chosen lodge for the evening to unwind and relax.

Drive from Murchison Falls N.P to Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast, drive to Kibale Forest National Park, passing through scenic countryside with verdant landscapes, traditional homesteads, and crop plantations.

Arrive in Fort Portal town for a hot lunch, then continue to Kibale.

Check in at your chosen lodge on the edge of the park, relax for the rest of the day, and enjoy dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 06

Game Drive & boat safari along Kazinga channel

After an early breakfast (or on-the-go), embark on a morning game drive through the Kasenyi track in Queen Elizabeth National Park to spot buffaloes, lions, elephants, and diverse birds amid savannah, crater lakes, grasslands, and woodlands.

Return to the lodge for a hot lunch.

In the afternoon, take a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel (linking Lakes Edward and George) to view high concentrations of hippos (1,500 along the channel), crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes drinking at the banks, and prolific birdlife.

If time allows, continue with an evening game drive before returning to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 08

Gorilla Trekking & transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast, your guide takes you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park HQ before 8:00 am for registration and gorilla trekking briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority staff.

Proceed to your assigned gorilla family's trailhead and begin the trek through the forest undergrowth (30 minutes to 8 hours; requires reasonable fitness and sturdy walking shoes).

Once the gorillas are located, spend the permitted 1 hour observing them feeding on leaves, bamboo shoots, wild celery, stinging nettle, and fruit (juveniles often play nearby); take photos and videos.

After the hour, rangers lead you back to the trailhead where your driver/guide waits, then return to park HQ to receive your gorilla tracking certificate.

Drive back to the lodge for a hot lunch, relax and review your photos in the afternoon, followed by dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 10

Bush Walk, Drive to Entebbe & Departure

  • After breakfast, depart Lake Bunyonyi at 9:00 am and drive to Lake Mburo National Park.

  • Arrive, check in at Eagles Nest Mburo Camp, and enjoy a hot lunch.

  • After lunch, take a boat trip on Lake Mburo to observe marine birds (including Malachite Kingfishers, Pied Kingfishers, African Fish Eagles, Rufous Long-tailed Starlings, Blue-headed Weavers, Green-necked Doves, Hammerkops, Pelicans, Herons, Cormorants, and more), hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, antelopes, zebras drinking at the banks, and three species of otters.
