VOLUNTEERING
WHERE IS KAHOROKO?
Tucked away in the cool, misty highlands of Kahoroko, Nyahururu (Laikipia County, Kenya), the Africa Away Centre sits at 2,300 meters above sea level; right where the equator meets fresh mountain air and endless rolling views. Just a short drive from the thunder of Thomson’s Falls and surrounded by pine forests and farmland, this peaceful spot feels like nature’s own classroom.
PROJECTS...
At the heart of everything we do at the Africa Away Centre in Kahoroko, Nyahururu, is a simple but powerful mission: to empower the youth, strengthen families, and uplift the entire community so they can build brighter, self-sustaining futures.
Through hands-on projects like drilling a new borehole that now delivers clean running water to every home and the local school, refurbishing classrooms and school amenities, and providing daily nutritious meals for children and families, we are tackling real needs while creating lasting change.
And the most beautiful part? We open our doors to kind-hearted people from all over the world who come to volunteer, teaching skills, playing with the children, sharing stories, and working side-by-side with the community. Every donation, every pair of helping hands, and every heart that shows up turns ignorance into knowledge and hope into real progress.
This is more than a project; it’s a movement of love and opportunity. Want to be part of it? Come visit, volunteer, or support us; your contribution truly changes lives!

The Africa Away Centre in Kahoroko is creating real, lasting change. Clean running water now reaches every home and the school, children are learning in safe, refurbished classrooms, and families receive nutritious daily meals. These simple but powerful steps are breaking the cycle of water-borne diseases, improving health, and giving the youth the foundation they need to dream bigger.
With every volunteer who comes to teach, play, and work alongside the community, and every donation that helps sustain these projects, we are not just helping today. We are building stronger, healthier, self-reliant families for generations to come.
This is how real impact grows: one borehole, one classroom, one child at a time.
